| As the lines between wireless
imaging devices like camera phones, wireless security
cameras, and consumer digital cameras blur the need arises
for an integrated set of websites that contain relevant

Wireless Cameras - There are five main categories of wireless cameras: cctv cameras, pc cameras, ip network cameras,
consumer digital cameras, and camera phones.
CCTV Cameras send an analog video signal from the camera/transmitter to a receiver attached to a monitor or TV. Closed
Circuit Television Cameras are generally used for monitoring, security, and surveillance. The higher end cameras generally offer
better image quality and features like remote control. Some CCTV Cameras are weatherproof and have infrared lighting which makes them night vision capable. Some cameras stream video images that are color
while others produce black and white. The maximum range for most of these cameras is up to 300' straight line of sight. This is due in part to the FCCs tight regulations with regard to power output and interference.
These cameras range in size from quarters to footballs. The smallest cameras are easily hidden and work great for surveillance.
PC Cameras (WebCams) generally send an analog video signal from the camera/transmitter to an analog/digital receiver that is attached to a pc through the USB
port. With the right software and a high speed connection, the images can be viewed over the internet. These cameras are adequate for basic pc and internet viewing. A pc is required in order to use these cameras and only a single
camera can be viewed.
IP Network Cameras (Internet Cameras) are stand alone units with a built in web server and cpu that can send either video or still images. With a wireless router and a high speed internet connection, these cameras can be accessed from
just about anywhere. Since these cameras are ip based, multiple cameras can be viewed through a single connection. Some of these cameras have pan/tilt/zoom capability, motion activation, night vision, weatherproof housings, and two way sound. These cameras are ideal for viewing your home or children
remotely and are considered by many to be the ultimate nanny cam.
Consumer Digital Cameras use or will soon use wireless technology to transfer images to other devices like printers, pcs, cameras, and cell phones. Since the image quality of todays low end digital cameras
is considered good, mega pixels are no longer the distinguishing factor when considering a purchase. Wireless connectivity and image transfer capability between digital devices will soon be the primary driver. Several of the digital camera leaders, including Kodak and
Nikon, already offer wireless digital cameras.
Camera Phones also use wireless technology to transfer images to other digital devices. As the quality of the embedded image sensors increase, so will the adoption of these devices for mission critical applications. The
majority of new cell phones in the US now come equipped with a built in camera.
